The Russian Foreign Ministry wished the Brazilian president a speedy return to action

Russia wishes Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva a speedy return to action after undergoing surgery. Alexander Shchetinin, director of the Latin American department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on December 14.
"For our part, we wish President Lula recovery and return to service," TASS quoted him as saying.
Shchetinin specified that at the moment the situation in Brazil is stable. He emphasized that the strength of the country's political system creates all the necessary conditions for its further development.
Earlier, on October 20, Reuters reported that the Brazilian president will not go to the BRICS summit, following the recommendations of doctors after a head injury received at home. According to a medical report from a hospital in Brasilia, Lula da Silva suffered a laceration to the back of his head. He was advised to avoid long-distance air travel.
On December 10, the president was emergency hospitalized due to a brain hemorrhage. Medics called it the result of a head injury that Lula da Silva suffered in October at his home. The politician underwent surgery to remove the hematoma. He was reported to be in stable condition in the intensive care unit.
Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin temporarily took over some of the hospitalized head of state's duties.
On December 11, media reported another brain surgery on the Brazilian president. It is expected that no further bleeding will occur as a result, minimizing the risks to Lula's health. Later, on December 12, Lula da Silva underwent a second surgery. According to the statement of medics, the operation was successful. In turn, the Brazilian president said on December 13 that he had recovered from the second operation.
