Used cars in Russia rose in price for the first time in nine months

The average price of a used passenger car in Russia has increased for the first time in nine months, or since February 2024. This was reported by the analytical agency "Autostat" on December 13.

Thus, the average car with mileage cost Br1.47 million in November this year. This is by 1.4%, or Br20 thousand more than in October. At the end of February, the average price of a used car reached the peak this year - Br1.61 million. Over the next eight months, it has been steadily declining, and in mid-autumn it amounted to Br1.45 million.

Analysts explain the rise in prices on the secondary market by the increase in scrappage duty, weakening of the ruble and inflation, which forces sellers to raise prices.

However, compared with November 2023, the average price of a car with mileage has decreased by 12%, or Br200 thousand.

December 11, it was reported that the average cost of a new car in November 2024 amounted to Br3.7 million. Last month, the average price of a new car increased by 1% (Br25 thousand). It is lower than the January values, although the number of active ads for 11 months has increased by 37%. The offer consists of Chinese cars by 70%, more than 42% of ads are in the segment of Br1.5-3 million.
