Ukraine says it is not ready for talks with Russia

The head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on 20 May), Andriy Yermak, has said that at the moment the Ukrainian side is not ready for negotiations with Russia. This was reported by the Strana.ua news and analysis website on December 12.
"To start negotiations, Ukraine should be strong and then it will be able to talk to Russia on equal terms," Yermak said.
He added that he meant a shortage of weapons and security guarantees.
On the eve of the former people's Deputy of Ukraine, a member of the international public movement "Other Ukraine" Spyridon Kilinkarov told "Izvestia" that Zelensky is personally responsible for the current conflict and many residents of the country understand this.
Earlier, on December 9, it became known that Zelensky at a trilateral meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, held at the Elysee Palace, discussed the freezing of the conflict with Russia. It was noted that the Ukrainian leader does not want to stop hostilities without receiving security guarantees, namely NATO membership or the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine.
On December 8, Trump said that the head of the Kiev regime would like to "make a deal" with Russia. According to him, it is necessary to immediately cease fire and start negotiations, otherwise the Ukrainian conflict may worsen. In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is open to negotiations on Ukraine and welcomes proposals from China, India, Brazil and other countries.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
