Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will undergo another brain surgery, doctors are going to clog an artery to stop hemorrhaging in the affected part of his head. This was reported by the Folha de Sao Paolo newspaper on Wednesday, December 11.

"President Lula will undergo a new procedure to stop blood flow in a specific area of the brain and prevent further hemorrhages like the one he suffered this week. The procedure is scheduled for Thursday," the piece said.

It is expected that as a result of new bleeding will not occur again, which minimizes the risks for Lula, the newspaper specifies.

Earlier, on December 10, the Brazilian President was urgently hospitalized due to a brain hemorrhage. Medics called it the result of a head injury that Lula da Silva received in October at his home. The politician underwent surgery to remove the hematoma. He was reported to be in stable condition in the intensive care unit.

On the same day, Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin temporarily took over some of the hospitalized head of state's duties. Several events are on the schedule, including a reception in honor of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, a bilateral meeting, signing of documents and a press statement.

On October 20, Reuters reported that the Brazilian president will not travel to the BRICS summit following doctors' recommendations after suffering a head injury at home. According to a medical report from a hospital in Brasilia, Lula da Silva suffered a laceration to the back of his head. He was advised to avoid long-distance air travel.
