Reuters reported on Trump's desire for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine

US President-elect Donald Trump has told Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy (term expired on May 20) and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron during a meeting in Paris that he wants a ceasefire in Ukraine and negotiations. This was reported by Reuters on December 11, citing sources.
According to sources with knowledge of the meeting, specific details of the vision of peace were not discussed. At the same time, Trump reiterated that he wants an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to soon resolve the conflict in Ukraine. It is specified that the meeting gave the first clues about how the negotiations could go.
"During the meeting, some key points were voiced. For example, it was said that the world needs guarantees, as a ceasefire alone is not enough," a source in the Ukrainian president's office specified.
He also noted that the US President-elect is "thinking about all the details".
On the eve of the Bloomberg agency said that during talks with Trump in Paris, Zelensky demanded security guarantees, in particular the invitation of Ukraine to NATO. On the same day, the deputy head of the Ukrainian leader's office, Ihor Zhovkva, said that the country's accession to NATO was "beyond the reach" of the Kiev regime and that it was not a matter of the near future.
At the same time, Zelensky said that he was interested in a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and also put forward the idea of deploying European troops in Ukraine until it joins NATO.
Political analyst Oleksandr Dudchak shared with Izvestiya the opinion that Zelensky and the West do not want a full-fledged peaceful settlement. At the same time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that Moscow is always open for negotiations on Ukraine, it is the Kiev regime and the Western countries that run it that are closed.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
