US President-elect Donald Trump's concept of resolving the conflict in Ukraine may be a signal for evacuation for Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on May 20. Such a statement was made by the head of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov on December 10.

"If Trump's concept is designed for a just peace in Ukraine, taking into account Russian geopolitical interests, the advent of such a peace for Zelensky's regime is a signal for evacuation," he told RIA Novosti.

He believes that Ukraine needs a peace that "provides for the destruction of the terrorist regime," as well as humanitarian and information freedom for the state's citizens.

On December 8, Trump said that Zelensky would like to "make a deal" with Russia. According to the US President-elect, it is necessary to immediately cease fire and start negotiations, otherwise the Ukrainian conflict may worsen. At the same time, Zelensky later rejected the willingness to negotiate.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Trump's words about Kiev's desire to "make a deal," recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is open to negotiations on Ukraine and welcomes proposals from China, India, Brazil and other countries.

Reuters reported on Dec. 10 that Zelensky had expressed interest in a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Ukraine. He also floated the idea of deploying European troops on the state's territory until NATO accession takes place.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
