Russians told about gifts to children for achievements in studies

Survey: every fourth child is given money for academic achievements

More than a half (56%) of schoolchildren receive gifts for academic achievements. At the same time, money was the most popular - it is chosen by 27% of parents. This follows from the results of a survey of jewelry brand Sokolov and educational company MAXIMUM Education, which "Izvestia" read on December 10.

The survey showed that in general, more than half (56%) of surveyed schoolchildren receive gifts for various achievements. The most frequent reason for presentation are good grades at the end of the quarter or trimester - so said 23% of respondents. Another 13% of schoolchildren are rewarded for excellent results at the end of the year. Both teenagers and their parents equally (50% each) believe that gifts for achievements in studies are not obligatory at all, the main thing is attention and moral support.

The main motivation for schoolchildren is to enter the college or university of their dreams (40%), according to the survey. A sense of responsibility to parents stimulates 31% of pupils, another 15% are inspired by praise from teachers. Competition with classmates is an important factor for 14% of respondents.

The most popular gift from parents was money - it is given to every fourth child (27%). They also turned out to be the most desired gift among schoolchildren (31%). Sweets (11%) took the second place in popularity, and jewelry (7%) took the third place.

According to the survey results, earrings and chains are the most popular among jewelry gifts (27% each). Rings and pendants are given by every fifth parent (20%), and bracelets are given by 8% of respondents. In addition, every tenth schoolchild (10%) receives clothes, shoes or accessories (bags, backpacks, etc.) as a gift for achievements. Less frequently parents give books and study materials, equipment or tickets to events (6% each).

According to schoolchildren, the optimal value of a gift does not necessarily have to be high: 52% believe that the price is not important, and 38% are sure that it depends on the achievement. For 18% of teenagers an acceptable amount would be Br1-5 thousand, 14% are satisfied with a gift up to Br1 thousand, and 8% would prefer a variant worth Br5-10 thousand. Parents in most cases also choose gifts within Br1-5 thousand (31%) or Br5-10 thousand (16%). At the same time, the main thing for 42% of families is attention and care, which are valued more than the material aspect of the gift.

Earlier, December 6, "Izvestia" got acquainted with the results of the study "Yandex Market," according to which half of Russians (49%) plan to allocate from Br20 to Br50 thousand for gifts for the upcoming New Year. The study showed that every fifth (19%) is ready to spend 50-100 thousand rubles, and every tenth (11%) - more than 100 thousand rubles. At the same time, 43% of respondents prefer to order gifts on marketplaces.
