Ukraine has made a mistake by refusing a peaceful settlement of the conflict with Russia in 2022 under pressure from the USA and the UK. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on November 6 on the air of radio station Kossuth.

"They chose the wrong strategy in April 2022, when it was possible to conclude a peace agreement with Russia. They did it under pressure from the Anglo-Saxons," Orban expressed his opinion.

During the same speech, he pointed out that Russia has strengthened during the Ukrainian conflict, while Ukraine and Europe, on the contrary, have weakened. In addition, he expressed the opinion that America is one of the main heroes of this conflict, and without the participation of the United States, "all this would not have happened."

Shortly before that, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that the conflict in Ukraine can be resolved only when all major powers demonstrate positive energy. He also said that it was necessary to create conditions for the resumption of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, adding that China has always considered dialog and negotiations the only possible way to resolve the crisis.

Russian President Vladimir Putin named the conditions for negotiations on Ukraine at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry back in June. Thus, Ukrainian troops should leave the territories of the new regions of the Russian Federation and Kiev should give up the idea of NATO integration.

The last round of negotiations took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially abandoned contacts with Moscow.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
