Kiev is losing the Ukrainian conflict because Russia has a strong military advantage. This was stated by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans during a speech in parliament on Wednesday, December 5.

"We can say that Ukraine is losing the conflict and Russia's military power is growing," the NL Times quoted him as saying.

The Dutch defense minister said the country currently has enough money to disburse the promised aid to Ukraine, while noting the difficulty in allocating additional money due to high international demand for weapons.

He emphasized Amsterdam's leadership in providing aid to Kiev (€10.4bn), adding that other countries have yet to make similar contributions for next year.

Earlier, on November 28, Ruben Brekelmans said that the Netherlands had supplied Ukraine with three launchers of the Patriot surface-to-air missile system (SAM).

Before that, on October 11, the head of the Dutch Defense Ministry said that the country had allocated about €10.4bn for military support to Ukraine.

On October 6, Brekelmans confirmed that the first of the 24 F-16 aircraft promised by the country had already been delivered to Ukraine. Among other things, the Dutch defense ministry said that the kingdom is a pioneer in the development of drones and is ready to invest €400m in the development of Ukrainian drones.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the background of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
