Ukraine 's non-aligned status and demilitarization are a solid basis for establishing peace on the Ukrainian side. This was stated by the head of the Crimean interethnic mission, Zaur Smirnov, on 5 December.

According to him, these factors are capable of ensuring security for both Europe and Kiev.

In addition, regarding the freezing of the conflict in Ukraine, Smirnov said that this would not lead to sustainable peace, but would create a potential threat to spread the conflict to Europe.

"As for sanctions, they cannot be bargained with Russia, as our country has clearly demonstrated to the whole world its economic and financial independence," the head of the Crimean mission told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, on November 29, the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that NATO has a growing opinion that the Ukrainian conflict should be temporarily ended in order to restore the combat capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). For this purpose, NATO training centers are being set up, where it is planned to train at least one million mobilized personnel.

Earlier, on November 20, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that freezing the conflict in Ukraine was not suitable for Russia. At the same time, he noted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was ready for contacts and negotiations.

Putin named the conditions for negotiations on Ukraine at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry back in June. Thus, Ukrainian troops should leave the territories of the new regions of the Russian Federation, and Kiev should give up the idea of integration into NATO.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
