The State Duma compared Berbok's ideas to Hitler's "Ost" plan

German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock's plans to send German soldiers to Ukraine are reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's "Ost" plan. The first deputy chairman of the State Duma's defense committee, Aleksey Zhuravlev, shared this opinion in a conversation with Izvestiya.

Earlier in the day, Berbock said at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels that a German peacekeeping contingent from the Bundeswehr military could be sent to Ukraine after the conflict ends to further resolve the situation.

Commenting on this, Zhuravlev emphasized that no one doubted that German servicemen could be sent to Ukraine. Berbok probably sleeps and sees how they will start trampling Ukrainian black soil with their boots, the MP suggested.

"All this is very similar to Hitler's famous Ost plan, according to which only those who would serve the German population were to remain in the Ukrainian SSR. It failed last time, but these Germans are obviously going to continue their attempts. Quite a few German soldiers fertilized this same black soil with their bodies. If they want to do it again, they can, of course, send them," added the interlocutor of the publication.

He also recalled that the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) had earlier reported that Western countries had developed a plan to partition Ukraine. Germany has one of the main roles in this plan - to enter the country as a peacekeeper and gain a foothold in these territories, Zhuravlev said.

At the same time, the SVR pointed out that there is a growing opinion in NATO about the need for a temporary halt to the Ukrainian conflict in order to restore the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the subsequent repeat offensive. The SVR noted that NATO training centers are being set up for this purpose, where it is planned to train at least one million mobilized people.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
