The Russian Navy and the Russian Air Force conducted missile launches during exercises in the Mediterranean Sea

The Russian Navy and the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have launched sea- and air-based missiles in the eastern Mediterranean Sea in the course of exercises to practice the methods of joint actions of groupings. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 3.

"Acting as part of the Russian Navy's strike group, crews of the frigates Admiral Fleet of the Soviet Union Admiral Gorshkov and Admiral Golovko performed firing of hypersonic missiles Zirkon," the report said.

In addition, the Novorossiysk diesel-electric submarine was involved, which fired a Kalibr missile at a sea target. The Onyx cruise missile was also launched by the Bastion coastal missile system on the Mediterranean coast.

The exercise involved more than 1,000 servicemen, 10 ships and support vessels, 24 aircraft, including MiG-31I fighters of the Russian Air Force with hypersonic missiles "Kinzhal", as well as coastal missile system "Bastion".

The Russian Armed Forces exercises are being held from December 1 to 3 under the leadership of Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

Earlier, on November 11, the press service of the Pacific Fleet reported that ships of the Russian Navy and the Indonesian Navy held the first joint naval exercise "Orruda-2024" in the Java Sea. It was specified that within the framework of the exercise from Russia were involved corvettes of the Pacific Fleet "Gromky", "Rezky", "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" and medium-sized naval tanker "Pechenga", from the Indonesian side in the exercise participated frigate "I Gusti Ngurah Rai" and corvette "Franz Kaisiepo".
