Political scientist Konstantin Blokhin, a leading researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has expressed the opinion that the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Kiev may be related to the preparation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose powers expired on 20 May, for the start of the negotiation process with Russia.

In a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Monday, December 2, the specialist noted that "Scholz of all European leaders is one of the most reserved," he does not always demonstrate a desire to help Ukraine.

"The task is to prepare Ukraine for the new realities and familiarize Kiev with the current geopolitical situation without promising anything," Blokhin admitted.

According to him, Scholz's visit may also be aimed at preparing Ukraine for a possible negotiation process.

On December 2, Chancellor Scholz announced the allocation of €650 million worth of arms to Kiev, which he will announce during his upcoming meeting with Zelensky. He also said that he wanted to "make it clear that Germany will remain the main country in Europe supporting Ukraine."

On the same day, the Bild newspaper wrote that Scholz was planning a trip to Ukraine after the U.S. election and before U.S . President-elect Donald Trump took office.

Earlier on December 2, Scholz arrived in Kiev for the first time in 2.5 years.

Earlier, Scholz spoke with Zelensky on the phone, notes NSN. The head of the Kiev regime said that his interlocutor revealed the details of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, notes 360.ru. According to the German edition of Tagesschau, Scholz's visit to Kiev is conducted for political publicity inside the FRG in the framework of early elections.

According to the Kremlin, Putin did not convey any message to Zelensky through the German chancellor, RT writes.

Earlier, on November 26, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock told a meeting of G7 foreign ministers that the FRG is ready to transfer two more Iris-T systems to Ukraine. One of them will be medium-range, while the second one will be short-range; the equipment is to be delivered in December.
