CSTO leaders point to the importance of common work to prevent new conflicts

It is necessary to work collectively to prevent global conflicts. The leaders of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) pointed to this on November 28 in a joint statement of the CSTO Collective Security Council in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

"We are convinced of the need for collective work to find answers to the numerous challenges of our time, to prevent new conflicts on a global scale," the document published on the Kremlin' s website said.

It says that true security must be equal and indivisible, it must be built taking into account the interests of all states and relying on the provisions of international law and creative cooperation.

The CSTO leaders said that it is the sacred duty of the victorious Nazi states, of which the organization is composed, to preserve for future generations the historical truth about the common struggle against Nazism. In addition, the ideology of hatred, extremism and discrimination of people on the grounds of nationality, race or religion cannot be allowed to return.

The document notes that it is necessary to form a sustainable multipolar world order, and solely on the basis of the diversity of cultures and civilizations, as well as taking into account the natural right of peoples to choose their own paths of development.

Earlier in the day, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Astana that the organization continues to play an important role in ensuring the security of member states and has become a key structure supporting stability in Eurasia.

Prior to that, on November 19, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution on the international organization's cooperation with the CSTO and recognized that the latter makes a great contribution to strengthening its peacekeeping potential and strengthening the system of regional security and stability.
