The crew of the tanker Akademik Pashin arrived in Murmansk from a long-distance voyage


The Northern Fleet's (NF) medium-sized sea tanker Akademik Pashin, which had been carrying out logistical support tasks for ships and vessels of the Russian Navy in various areas of the World Ocean, has returned to its home port of Murmansk from a long-distance voyage. This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet on November 28.
It is specified that the arrival of the ship was accompanied by a military band of the Northern Fleet Logistics Center. At the pier the sailors were met by Vice-Admiral Dmitry Ukrainets, Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet for Logistics, as well as relatives and friends of the crew members.
On behalf of the Northern Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, Dmitry Ukrainets congratulated the sailors on their return home, thanked them for successfully accomplishing all the tasks of the long-range campaign, presented them with certificates and the traditional roast piglet.
"It was pleasant to hear warm words from the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy about the tanker crew, about the high skill and professionalism, which by the results of this long-range campaign is noted by all officials of the Navy," Vice-Admiral Dmitry Ukrainets said.
According to the press service, during the long-range campaign the crew of the tanker made 34 resupply of the Russian Navy warships and support vessels, transferred more than 8.6 thousand tons of fuel and lubricants, more than 520 tons of fresh water and more than 50 tons of food.
The Atlantic and Indian Oceans, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea became the geography of the voyage. The Akademik Pashin's long-distance voyage lasted about half a year, during which time more than 23,000 nautical miles (42,600 kilometers) were covered.
"Our campaign began at the same berth on May 17 this year, continued until today. The main task was to provide the detachment of Northern Fleet ships during an unofficial visit to Cuba. We took part in some official events in Cuba, represented the Russian Navy there during this visit. With the resupply, as they say, we are ready to continue to perform the intended tasks", - commented tanker captain Mikhail Sukhanov.
Earlier, on November 15, the patrol ship (SCR) "Neustrastashimy" finished its long-range voyage and returned to its permanent home base in Baltiysk, having fulfilled its assigned tasks in the areas of the World Ocean. Having started in July, the long-distance voyage of the "Neustrazhishimy" lasted more than four months, during which time the crew of the ship traveled about 30,000 nautical miles.
