Due to bad weather in Smolensk region more than 4 thousand people and two educational institutions are still without light. This was announced by Governor Vasily Anokhin on November 28.

"Power engineers and their colleagues from other regions continue to work round the clock on the restoration of electricity," he said in his Telegram-channel.

Thanks to the work to restore power supply in municipalities, light has been returned to the homes of 15,000 residents of the region and to eight schools in sparsely populated areas.

At night, 56 mobile generators will be installed to restore electricity supply in small and remote villages. On November 29, it is planned to install another 50 such devices. Also in the most affected areas opened temporary accommodation centers.

Earlier, on November 27, it was reported that more than 19 thousand residents were left without electricity in Smolensk region due to snowfall. The Governor on a direct line announced that the authorities are ready to reimburse the cost of accommodation in hotels until the restoration of power supply to their homes.

Before that, on November 23, an emergency regime was introduced in Lakhdenpokhsky district of the Republic of Karelia, where power outages continue due to bad weather.
