According to the Vologda Hydrometeorological Center, bad weather will continue to rage in the region on Friday, November 22. Prolonged, heavy precipitation in the form of wet snow and rain is predicted. Weather forecasters warned about the sticking of wet snow on wires and tree branches, wind gusts up to 18 meters per second. According to preliminary data, the situation may improve by the weekend.

The sharp deterioration of weather conditions led to a massive emergency power outage in the region. According to the Deputy Governor of the Vologda Oblast Evgenia Mazanova, at the moment electricity is cut off in 591 settlements, where 20,251 people live.
Houses in Ustyuzhensky, Gryazovetsky, Vologodsky, Kharovsky, Vozhegodsky, Totemsky, Babayevsky, Chagodoshchensky, Sokolsky, Nikolsky, Syamzhensky, Verkhovazhsky, Kirillovsky, Belozersky, Tarnogsky, Velikoustyugsky, Nyukseninsky districts and Cherepovetsky and Sheksninsky districts remain without light.
Cases of falling trees and power outages were also recorded in the regional administrative center of the region.
"Cases of falling trees were recorded in the city, damage to power lines was detected. Part of Vologda is without light," - reported in the Telegram-channel of the city administration.
The Governor of the Vologda region Georgy Filimonov asked the heads of municipalities to promptly respond to emergency situations in the region.
"Please make real efforts and assist the Vologda branch of Russian Grids," - wrote the head of the region.
