More than 19 thousand people and 10 educational institutions remain without electricity in the Smolensk region due to bad weather. This was reported by the Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin in his Telegram channel.
Currently, work is underway to restore power supply in municipalities, light has been returned to 10 thousand residents of the region and 13 schools in sparsely populated areas.
"In addition to power engineers and their colleagues from other regions, employees of Smolensk enterprises, forestry and hunting farms, subsoil users, road builders, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and volunteers are liquidating the consequences of the snowfall with a united front," the head of the region said.
Anokhin also reminded that the Smolensk region opened temporary shelter centers in the areas most affected by bad weather.
In addition, the governor on a direct line announced that the authorities are ready to reimburse the costs of the region's residents for accommodation in hotels until the restoration of power supply in their homes.
"The operational headquarters will work around the clock until the full restoration of power supply in the municipalities. All questions on the elimination of the consequences of snowfall keep on personal control," - wrote Anokhin.
Earlier, on November 23, in Lakhdenpokhsky district of the Republic of Karelia introduced a state of emergency, where power outages continue due to bad weather.
Earlier in the day Moscow was covered with heavy snowfall. Chief specialist of the Moscow Meteobureau Tatyana Pozdnyakova reported that in the second half of the night of November 23 the city was in the precipitation zone of the southern cyclone, and within 3-4 hours in the capital formed a snow cover, by 09:00 its height reached a height of 3-4 cm. During the day, according to the meteorologist, precipitation will continue, in some places snow will be interspersed with rain.
