Proper nutrition helps the skin to look healthy. Natalya Mikhailova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, dermatovenerologist, cosmetologist, scientific director of MARTINEX Company, told Izvestia on November 26 about useful and harmful products and gave some advice.

According to the expert, certain products trigger the process of glycation in the body, in which an excess of sugar molecules sews together protein fibers of collagen. This contributes to premature aging, which is called glyco-aging. As a result, the skin on the face begins to sag, becomes gray, lifeless, dry, may manifest hyperpigmentation in the form of pronounced brown spots, swelling, dark circles under the eyes are noted.

Dermatovenerologist specified that glycoaging is caused by heavily fried products with a ruddy crust, sauce with a lot of sugar, fast carbohydrates - refined sugar, honey, various sweets, pastries, carbonated drinks, white bread, dairy products of animal origin, very sweet store sauces. They increase blood sugar levels and destroy collagen.

In order to preserve the beauty and youthfulness of the skin for a long time, it is important to adhere to the rules of nutrition. First of all, it is worthwhile to observe the water regime. Without enough water, cells cannot function properly. Dehydration retains fluid in the body, this leads to edema, Mikhailova explained.

"The break between meals should be 4-6 hours. During this time, glucose and insulin values are normalized," she added.

In addition, it is worth diversifying your diet. According to the expert, if a person eats only porridge in the morning, chicken or only soups for lunch and dinner seven days a week, it is an unbalanced diet. It will lead to deficiencies.

That said, it is worth adding vegetables to every meal.

"Try to diversify them, so that it is not only cucumbers and tomatoes. Fiber gives food to the intestinal microbiota, which plays a special role in maintaining beauty and longevity. Fibers are rich in leafy vegetables, cabbage, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, carrots, asparagus, parsley, celery, spinach, radishes, bananas, berries, cherries, plums," - said dermatovenereologist.

She specified that the maximum amount of vitamin A, C, D, various micro- and macronutrients, chromium, iodine, silicon - in Brussels sprouts and broccoli.

It is also necessary to keep an eye on the amount of protein. This is a kind of building material of which cells, tissues, tendons, muscles are composed.

"It is very important for maintaining the beauty and health of the skin, hair and the whole body. Try to consume at least 1 g of protein per 1 kg of your body weight. Animal proteins (red meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, cheese, eggs) should definitely be in your diet. They are able to restore our collagen, so they are necessary if we want to get anti-age-effect", - emphasized Mikhailova.

The doctor recommended consuming by-products (liver, stomach, heart, tongue). They contain a large amount of iron, B vitamins, zinc.

Along with this, the expert advised to emphasize healthy fats and oils. This is avocado, olives, lard, butter. Oil can be butter, olive oil, cedar, sesame oil. It is also worth remembering the fatty varieties of fish. These are herring, tuna, trout, salmon, mackerel, cod and whale liver oil.

"Remember the natural vitamins. Leafy vegetables contain huge amounts of folic acid, which is very important for maintaining youthfulness and women's health. Carrots contain a lot of vitamin A, and cherries, plums, cherries have powerful antioxidant activity," - said Mikhailova.

At the same time you should limit sugar, because its excess will lead to spikes in blood glucose and insulin, and then to their sharp drop. This worsens the mood and deprives the person of energy. Also, a large consumption of sugar retains fluid in the body, which becomes the cause of edema. In addition, a chemical reaction like glycation is triggered, which can accelerate the natural aging process of the skin, the doctor explained.

"It is important to follow the golden rule of the plate: 50% is vegetables, fiber, 25% carbohydrates, 25% protein. You don't have to forget about fats either. Ideally, sticking to this balance should be done from a young age. We start aging from 25-27 years old, but no one can see this aging yet. Changes accumulate and become noticeable over time," said Mikhailova.

The dermatovenerologist explained that in adulthood metabolism decreases, cell renewal slows down, and nutrition must be adjusted. First of all, she said, it is necessary to reduce the number of heavy foods and switch to lighter foods that will be digested faster.

Earlier, on November 19, gastroenterologist "SM-Clinica" Valeria Lomova told "Izvestia" that the most negative impact on the liver has alcohol, which destroys cells - hepatocytes. Regular alcohol consumption threatens such dangerous complications as fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver.
