Medvedev says Russia does not recognize ICC decision on Netanyahu and Galant

Russia will not recognize the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on November 22.
"Russia does not recognize the International Criminal Court and considers it illegitimate," he said in an interview with Al Arabiya TV.
The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Galant on Nov. 21. The decision was made because they are criminally responsible as civilian chiefs "for the war crime of deliberately attacking a civilian population."
On November 22, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the ICC's decision to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and the country's former Defense Ministry chief Yoav Galant would in no way help end the conflict in the Middle East.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, when Hamas launched a massive rocket attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip and invaded border areas in the south of the country and took hostages. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes against targets in the Gaza Strip.
