Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be arrested if he crosses the territory of the UK after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant. This was announced at the British prime ministers residence in Downing Street on November 22, Sky News television channel reported.

"TheUK will always comply with its legal obligations set out in domestic law and, in fact, in international law," the publication quotes the representative of the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

According to the material, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in Parliament Emily Thornberry said that the country is obliged to arrest the leader of Israel because it is a member of the ICC.

It is also noted that Ireland, France and Italy will also arrest Netanyahu in case of his visit to these countries. At the same time, Budapest has decided not to honor the ICC's decision to arrest Netanyahu and will invite him to visit the country, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and formerIsraeli Defense Ministry head Yoav Galant on November 21. The decision was made because Netanyahu and Galant are criminally responsible as civilian chiefs "for the war crime of deliberately attacking a civilian population."

On the same day, European Union (EU) diplomatic chief Josep Borrell told a Jordan press conference that he considered the agency's arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister, former defense minister and commander of Hamas' military wing Mohammed Ad Deif "binding."

On November 22, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the ICC's decision to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant would in no way help end the conflict in the Middle East.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, when Hamas launched a massive rocket attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip and invaded border areas in the south of the country and took hostages. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes against targets in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinians seek to return the borders between the two countries to the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War. Palestine wants to establish its own state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and make East Jerusalem its capital. Israel refuses to accept the conditions.
