The European Union (EU) should send military aid to Ukraine because of the peace agreement proposed by US President-elect Donald Trump. This was stated by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahna in an interview with the Financial Time newspaper on Tuesday, November 19.

In his opinion, such a decision will help "to ensure any peace agreement of Trump", so European leaders should prepare to send their troops.

The diplomat pointed out that the "real guarantee" for Kiev's security would allegedly be the country's accession to NATO and if the administration of the elected American leader refuses this, military aid will remain the only option.

Earlier, on November 7, the American newspaper WSJ wrote that Trump's team is already discussing a new plan to end the conflict in Ukraine. It includes several main points, according to which the front line is frozen and a demilitarized zone is declared along its length. Ukraine must also refuse to join NATO for at least 20 more years. At the same time, arms deliveries to Kiev will continue.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that the article on the Trump team's plan for Ukraine is abstract.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was made by the Russian president due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
