June 1 — World Parents' Day: beautiful postcards and greetings

Every year on June 1, Russia and other countries celebrate a holiday dedicated to the most important people in a child's life — World Parents' Day. In 2025, it falls on a Sunday. Read about the history and traditions of this celebration in the Izvestia article.
World Parents' Day in 2025: date, history
World Parents' Day is a relatively young holiday that appeared on the calendar in 2012 during the 66th session of the UN General Assembly. It is aimed at supporting mothers and fathers around the world, and also reminds of the important role of the family in shaping modern society and its values.
Being a parent is a difficult and responsible mission. It is parents who are responsible for the upbringing and education of their children, take care of their physical health and psychological well-being, and help them develop harmoniously as individuals. In addition, mom and dad give the baby love, support and create conditions for the formation of such important qualities as kindness, mercy, respect for others and the desire to help others. The lessons learned in childhood often remain with a person for life.
This holiday coincides with the International Children's Day. Both celebrations are united by the idea of reminding adults of their responsibility to the younger generation and drawing attention to the problems of families around the world. They emphasize the need for support and care for children, as well as the importance of strengthening family values.
There are other dates dedicated to the family in the world calendar: for example, Mother's Day in Russia is celebrated on the last Sunday in November, and Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in October. In different countries, these dates may vary depending on national traditions. Many countries also celebrate International Family Day on May 15, a celebration of unity and love within family ties.
Traditions of World Parents' Day
World Parents' Day appeared on the calendar not so long ago, so the special traditions of the celebration have not yet settled down. Nevertheless, on this day, family events for every taste take place all over the world: concerts, master classes, quests, exhibitions, relay races, etc. Children are involved in outdoor games and competitions, invited to performances and contests. Lectures and seminars on proper parenting, meetings with psychologists, and educational conversations are organized for parents.
During the holiday, charitable foundations and public organizations open collections for the needs of families in difficult situations. Officials hold conferences and congresses where measures are discussed to protect the rights of parents and improve the quality of life of children.
