An unexpected Class C flare occurred on the Sun.
A small and weak Class C flare occurred on the Sun, which disrupted the four-day lull period. This was announced on November 2 by the press service of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
"On Sunday, after a four—day break, a weak Class C flare unexpectedly occurred, breaking a beautiful series without flares. <...> Spots appeared on the Sun again, but so far this has not changed anything," says a message on the Telegram channel of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy.
The researchers shared the relevant observation as part of a small forecast of solar activity for early November. So, according to their observations, a calm geomagnetic situation and low flare activity are now predicted. At the same time, on the night of October 31 to November 1, scientists registered a G2-level magnetic storm.
At the moment, the geomagnetic indices have been located in the green zone for over a day, and the parameters of the solar wind have reached stability, which suggests that the cosmic event can be considered completed.
On October 31, the IKI RAS reported that the Earth was caught in a stream of plasma emanating from a coronal hole in the Sun. According to their information, the temperature of the ionized gas near the planet has increased from 30 to 200 thousand degrees, and the space itself, where it appeared, has a large size.
