The mission in Alyoshki has been "successfully completed," Russian Ombudsman Yana Lantratova said. Humanitarian aid was delivered to the residents of Alyosha, and everyone was able to leave this dangerous city. They have already been placed in the Krasnodar Territory, and some needed medical help. The evacuees said that in recent days, many have literally been eating grass and living under constant air attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At 22:59 on November 1, the humanitarian truce ended, but Yana Lantratova did not rule out conducting new missions to help the people who remained in the city. The success of the campaign was recognized in Washington, Kiev and Moscow. Experts believe that it can create a positive background for the resumption of trilateral peace talks.

"Shells were flying over our roof"

In recent months, residents of Alyosha have felt as if they were under siege — under constant shelling, even at the moment when they went out to get food, without being able to safely leave the city along roads mined by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was told by people who left the settlement during the humanitarian mission, which was conducted from October 27 to November 1.

— Can it be considered a lockdown when you go to the market for sausage or bread, and a shell arrives there? Is this already a lockdown or not? It went on all the time," local resident Igor Zhitchenko told Izvestia.

Drones were constantly flying over the city. The buildings, however, were also unsafe.

"There were two—storey houses opposite and behind us, but now they have already burned down," Angelina Adamenko said.

Lyudmila, the mother of seven children, noted that it had been especially difficult lately.

"Both children and adults ate grass," she said.

A local resident, Sergei, tried to get to the store by car with his parents the day before the arrival of the humanitarian convoy. Unlucky, they hit a mine: the father died, and he ended up in the hospital with wounds to both legs.

Sergei, like his mother, was taken to Crimea in an ambulance. There were no relatives left in Alyosha: every single one was burned by Ukrainian drones.

Local resident Vitaly told: The younger ones supported the old people by looking for food for them. Our soldiers also helped, sharing everything they had.

— The shells were flying over our roof, and it's not known when it would have landed on us... Did they know that Ukraine was bombing us like that, why would we go there? There are no words how outraged their attitude towards us is," pensioner Angelina Panteleeva shared her opinion.

A humanitarian mission to evacuate residents from the city took place on October 29. A convoy of 25 buses, nine ambulances, transport for bedridden people and more than 50 medical workers arrived in Alyoshki.

Quite a large number of people did not want to leave the city and stayed, said a correspondent of Izvestia who was on the scene.

"We were born here,— Alyoshek, an elderly resident, explained her decision to Izvestia.

Food, medicines, fuel, hygiene products and other necessary items were delivered to the city for those who remained.

Armyansk – Simferopol – Anapa

In the evening of the same day, a convoy with evacuees arrived in the Crimean city of Armyansk, and from there to Simferopol. Doctors examined people at the temporary accommodation center. Those who needed medical help were provided. Several people had to be hospitalized.

"During the examinations, they revealed exacerbations of chronic diseases, cardiovascular and surgical pathologies, and mine-blast injuries," said Alexei Kuznetsov, Assistant Minister of Health of Russia.

Then the people were transported to Anapa and accommodated in one of the local hotels. Two, three and four-bed rooms were prepared for the arrivals. The volunteers met the evacuees, helped them with the check-in and offered them dinner. There is a shop, a children's play area, a gym and a sports ground on site. You can live with pets.

— They take it normally. Medicine also helps," Leonid Sikorsky, a resident of Alyoshka, shared his impressions with Izvestia.

Some still couldn't get rid of the terrible memories.

— It's unbearable, but we thought we'd live longer. But lately they've been bombing so much that I've run out of patience," said evacuee Angelina Panteleeva.

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, noted that in the future, the issues of restoring documents, treatment, accommodation and communication with relatives will have to be resolved. The Commissioner's office will accompany this process and help people get all the necessary support.

For those who chose to evacuate to Ukraine, the Russian side organized an air bridge through Anapa and Gomel. They arrived safely in the country. They are accompanied by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets.

The humanitarian mission in Alyoshki has been successfully completed, his Russian counterpart Yana Lantratova reported on October 31.

"All agreements have been fulfilled by both sides. We managed to walk this path together and help people," she wrote on the Maks messenger.

Yana Lantratova also thanked the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump for her personal participation, assistance and coordination, which helped the mission take place.

The feat of the sappers

— All the tasks within the framework of the humanitarian operation were completed by our military personnel. One thing was required of the Ukrainian Armed Forces — to remain silent, not to open fire," military expert Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia.

He recalled that it was the Ukrainian Armed Forces that staged the blockade of the city, using drones to mine all the roads leading to it, which eventually led to a difficult humanitarian situation.

Our army began clearing roads for humanitarian convoys and city blocks on October 27, the first day of the silence regime. According to Viktor Litovkin, the main problem was the chaotic but dense mining of Alleys, access roads, outskirts, forest belts and adjacent shrubs. There were mines of various types and purposes on the territory, including those installed as traps.

— All this involves a lot of risk. It was impossible to put sapper robots between the trees and in the bushes - we had to go there with our own feet," Viktor Litovkin noted.

Unfortunately, there were casualties. During the preparation of the route, Andrei Vedernikov, a sapper sergeant of the 98th Guards Airborne Division, died on October 28. He was fatally injured due to the detonation of a device that was equipped with a Doppler sensor that triggered when approaching him.

How did the world assess the results of the humanitarian mission

Both sides of the conflict have announced that the operation in Alyoshki has been successfully completed. She was preceded by difficult negotiations with the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets, said Yana Lantratova.

She stressed that gummissions in Alyoshki are planned to be held on a regular basis for those residents who decide to stay. On the part of Kiev, Vladimir Zelensky announced the completion of the operation, noting that the humanitarian corridor had worked without disruption.

The mediator of the agreement, US First Lady Melania Trump, was pleased with the results of the mission, expressing the hope that it would contribute to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and become "a starting point on the path to lasting peace."

"The ceasefire in Alyoshki and the surrounding areas of the Kherson region provided residents with freedom of movement, access to food, clean water, medicines, and also allowed them to regain their self—esteem without the constant threat of attack," Melania Trump wrote on Twitter.

The Kremlin also positively assessed the results of the mission in Alyoshki and how coordination was carried out between the ombudsmen of Russia and Ukraine.

"They have established a good dialogue. It is important. They're slowly starting to trust each other. This is good for human rights work," said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.

UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said the truce had given residents hope.

"May this example pave the way for the delivery of vital aid and the expansion of humanitarian access on both sides of the front line," Fletcher wrote on the social network X.

A local truce in Alyoshki can indeed become the basis for subsequent humanitarian operations, says Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. According to him, the Zaporizhia NPP could become the territory of a new humanitarian truce under international monitoring, which would create a safe zone for staff rotation and prevention of nuclear risks.

If Donald Trump wins the US congressional elections on November 3, he could show additional interest in implementing new targeted humanitarian initiatives, Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries, told Izvestia.

According to experts, the successful completion of the operation in Alyoshki will create a positive background for the resumption of trilateral negotiations between Moscow, Kiev and Washington. At the same time, it should be understood that the humanitarian and political tracks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine run parallel to each other, so one should not expect automatic progress in the peace process. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov had previously stressed that the first round in Abu Dhabi after a long pause would be a "target practice" meeting.
