The humanitarian operation in Alyoshki, Kherson region, has ended. This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Yana Lantratova. According to her, everything went off without incident. The convoy, which was already at the entrance to Crimea on the evening of October 30, has 25 buses and nine ambulances. Dozens of tons of humanitarian aid were distributed to the people who decided to stay. Meanwhile, local residents talk about the unbearable conditions that the Ukrainian Armed Forces created in the city.

"Everything was successful"

"Everything went off without any incidents." Thus, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Yana Lantratova, announced the completion of the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki. According to her, both sides noted the high level of organization.

"Thanks to our military, who provided all this. A huge convoy: 25 buses, nine ambulances, buses for bedridden people. Everything was done. I thank the First Lady (Melania Trump. — Ed.), I thank everyone who took part in this event," the Ombudsman said.

On the evening of October 30, when Yana Lantratova was recording this message, the humanitarian convoy was already on the territory of Armyansk at the entrance to Crimea. The mission participants accompanied people who wished to leave the city to temporary accommodation facilities.

The column split up. Those who wanted to went to Ukraine. Those who have remained in Russia will be accommodated and supported.

"People still have a lot to solve — with treatment, housing, documents, returning to their loved ones. We will help you. We are also keeping in touch with those who stayed in Alyoshki to know about their further needs," the Russian Ombudsman said.

On the morning of October 30, Russian and Ukrainian delegations arrived in Alyoshki with humanitarian supplies. According to Yana Lantratova, several dozen tons of humanitarian aid were handed over to local residents: food, hygiene products, fuel for generators and other necessary things.

"We collected what the people themselves asked for. This is especially important for those who have decided to stay. This is their home. They need to take care of their loved ones," the Ombudsman said.

Buses with at least 750 seats were prepared for those who wanted to leave the city.

The humanitarian convoy includes more than 50 journalists from different countries.

Lantratova is working within the framework of agreements with the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets with the assistance and coordination of the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump.

She said that the ceasefire had not been violated since the beginning of the truce. The Russian and Ukrainian sides are fully fulfilling their obligations.

"This mission was made possible largely thanks to our military personnel and the Russian Ministry of Defense. Sappers examined and cleared the roads so that the humanitarian convoy could reach Alyosha. This is a dangerous job that requires great endurance and attention. I bow low to all those who carry it out, risking their own lives," the commissioner said.

The young helped the elderly

Local residents told Izvestia's military correspondent Leonid Kitrar what difficulties they faced in Alyoshki.

"People had vegetable gardens, someone had three chickens left, one cow remained for the whole city. Since the middle of summer, nothing could be bought," recalls one of the residents of Alyosha.

We went to a village 20 km from Alyosha for food.

Another local added that the city's youth helped the elderly. Some of the products were delivered by the Russian military to the city using drones.

"Those who were younger shared with those who had no legs, no arms, thank God, even the survivors themselves. Grandfathers, grandmothers. We helped them," said Vitaliy, a resident of Alyoshek.

Ukrainian shelling targeted food trucks, ambulances, and civilians.

The Sapper's Feat

The participants of the humanitarian mission were also in danger. To ensure the safe passage of the convoy, the Russian military had to first clear the roads.

According to Yana Lantratova, a sapper died during the preparation of the route.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that this happened on October 28. During engineering reconnaissance and road clearance to ensure the safety of the humanitarian convoy's routes to Alyoshka Guards, Sergeant of the 98th Guards Airborne Division Andrei Vedernikov was fatally wounded as a result of an explosive device planted by a Ukrainian drone during mine clearance. The device was equipped with a Doppler sensor that was triggered when approaching it.

It is impossible to carry out such a complex humanitarian operation in the shortest possible time without our army, military observer Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia.

"The journey of several tens of kilometers to Alyosha means long hours of deadly work by our sappers," he explained. — We can already say that the area around the city was extremely densely mined. There were mines on roads, in ditches, fields, and forest plantations. The situation was no better in urban areas — UAVs dropped them there. Moreover, many of the mines turned out to be traps, which made mine clearance especially difficult. Unfortunately, there were casualties among our guys.

Many details of the operation remain a secret for now, the expert noted. Our troops cannot be 100% sure that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not violate the silence regime. They need to be ready at any second to respond to a provocation in order to save people.

"Intelligence plays an important role here, including that conducted with the help of drones," he noted.

The mission was organized and conducted by the Russian side and our army at the highest level, and the Kiev regime and the Ukrainian Armed Forces simply had to comply, to a large extent, of course, under American pressure, military expert Boris Jerelievsky told Izvestia.

"We have failed the propaganda campaign of the Kiev regime, during which the enemy tried to present the events taking place on the front line as an attempt to genocide the population of Alyosha by our country," he said.

The expert noted that there is nothing to accuse us of and nothing to cling to. The Russian side has shown that no one takes away the right to choose from people.

"Everyone saw — and there were both the Ukrainian ombudsman and foreign correspondents — who were shelling and mining the city," he said. — Those residents of Alyosha who wanted to go to Ukraine will go there. People's rights have been respected. And we were as open as possible.

A separate situation

On October 30, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow notes the high level of coordination achieved between the Russian and Ukrainian ombudsmen in the framework of the humanitarian operation in Alyoshki.

According to the Kremlin's representative, the temporary ceasefire in Alyoshki is a separate situation, and it is still difficult to project it onto the entire conflict settlement process in Ukraine.
