At the start, the adventure fantasy surpassed the mark of 122 million rubles. Other family premieres lost out to him: the Tale of Lost Time has about 113 million rubles on its account, while Morozko, starring Elizaveta Boyarskaya and Kirill Zaitsev, earned only 88 million. Read more about the results of the weekend at the cinema in the Izvestia article.

The battle with the fairy tale

"Battle of the Motors" with Ivan Yankovsky and Yura Borisov heads the box office for the third week in a row. The film added almost 157 million more rubles to its own box office, and the total fees are approaching 800 million. The average attendance is significantly high — 22 people per session.

The real battle, however, at the Russian box office over the weekend unfolded between three fairy tales, which premiered on October 22. The best result was shown by Chudo-Yudo — more than 122 million rubles over the weekend. The average number of viewers per session is 14 people. The film tells the story of the young and wayward Otrada (Sofia Lopunova), the daughter of powerful magicians Chernogor (Sergey Bezrukov) and Bolotnitsa (Victoria Isakova). She must marry a mere mortal to regain her lost ability to cast magic. On a dangerous journey into the human world, she is protected by a mysterious Miracle Yudo (Mikita Voronov), who can transform into any living being.

"The Tale of Lost Time" has mastered about 113 million rubles at the box office. According to the plot of the original play by Evgeny Schwartz, evil wizards turn four children into old men in order to regain their youth. According to the producers of the new film, Gevonda and Sarika Andreasyanov, gadgets help the wizards, played by Ivan Okhlobystin, Alexander Lykov, Vitaly Khaev and Tatiana Orlova. Although the project did not receive a box office advantage, the average number of viewers per session over the weekend was 19 people.

The result of "Morozko" with Elizaveta Boyarskaya in the role of the evil witch and Kirill Zaitsev in the image of the lord of winter is much less impressive — 88 million rubles over the weekend. The novelty is related to the Soviet classics by the name and names of the heroines, however, Nastya and Marfa are now best friends. They will have to challenge ancient magic so that winter finally comes to their native village for the first time in many years. The audience's interest in this picture turned out to be colder not only in terms of fees, but also in terms of attendance — an average of 12 people per session.

— The family fantasy "Chudo-Yudo" stands out among other releases with a bright star cast, which includes Sergey Bezrukov, Victoria Isakova and Rinal Mukhametov. But in general, both "Morozko" and "The Tale of Lost Time," inspired by very popular Soviet films, performed well," Olga Zinyakova, general director of the KARO cinema chain, told Izvestia. — The paintings compete strongly with each other because they work for the same audience. At the same time, the family audience may not have enough time during the school period to visit all the new items.

Don't raise your hands

Collecting the musical tape "Hands Up! 2" for the weekend amounted to 44 million rubles. The total box office of the film is slightly more than 150 million. The first part overcame this mark on its debut weekend — it earned more than 225 million rubles from October 10 to October 13, 2024.

— The sequel to the biopic "Hands Up! 2" word of mouth wasn't the best — the band's ardent fans supported the picture, but the rest considered the novelty overly sentimental and banal. The film was not helped by the tremendous success of the first part. "Hands Up! 2" disappeared under the spotlight of the "Battle of Motors," Zinyakova said.

The Ninth Planet, with Yura Borisov and Irina Starshenbaum, was also let down by the competition. During the month of rental, the fantastic action movie mastered about 467 million rubles. Of these, 21 million were last weekend.

— Such fees are an excellent result for Russian Sci-fi, especially considering that this release is aimed at a more adult audience of 16+. "The Ninth Planet" has been at the top of the box office for a month now and will definitely reach the half a billion mark. This example confirms that large quality releases for a more adult audience are extremely in demand at the box office," Zinyakova emphasized.
