- Zakharova compared the EU's plans for sanctions with the statement about mice and cactus
On October 21, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova ironically reacted to the plans of the European Union (EU) to include new restrictions against Russian oil in the 22nd package of sanctions.
Earlier, the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said that the European Commission intends to include additional restrictions against Russian oil in the new package of sanctions, despite the energy crisis in Europe.
"The main prize in the nomination was "The mice stabbed and cried, but continued to gnaw the cactus," Zakharova responded on the Telegram channel.
Callas said on October 20 that Ukraine continues to resist Russia thanks to the support of Europe, while US negotiators are pushing Kiev to surrender. In addition, the head of the European Diplomacy said that the EU sanctions against Russia, in her assessment, continue to have an impact.
On October 12, the EU approved the 22nd package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions affected about 1.6 thousand companies and individuals associated with the defense sector.
