Rosatom does not exclude the construction of additional gigafactories for the production of energy storage devices. This was announced on October 14 by the head of the state corporation Alexey Likhachev on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week forum.

He clarified that the issue of building new enterprises will be considered after the launch of the gigafactory in the Kaliningrad region and the full utilization of production facilities in Krasnaya Pakhra and Kaliningrad.

"There are thoughts, but first let's put Kaliningrad into commercial operation and fully load it, and so on. Because, after all, the full production program has not yet been fully formed," TASS quoted Likhachev as saying.

Also on October 6, Likhachev participated in the opening ceremony of the Moscow cluster of electric batteries on the territory of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone (SEZ) together with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. According to the mayor, one gigafactory will produce compact batteries, including for drones and household devices, the second is intended for the production of traction batteries.
