What is known about the incident
On Saturday, a missile attack was launched at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. According to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia (GACA), at least 12 people were killed and another 309 were injured. The victims are receiving the necessary medical care, some are in critical condition.
Among the dead were four Saudi citizens and eight foreigners: residents of Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
The attack also caused material damage to the airport, its scale is being assessed. Riyadh International Airport has suspended operations after a new missile strike. The facility was attacked three times during the week.
The reaction of the authorities and the United States
The Saudi-led Arab coalition called the attack on the airport a war crime and promised a decisive response. According to the coalition, the attack was carried out by Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement.
"The terrorist act <...> constitutes a full—scale war crime in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary norms, as well as a monstrous act contrary to principles, values and morals," Major General Al-Maliki said.
The coalition promised to respond to the attack in accordance with international humanitarian law.
US President Donald Trump said that Washington will soon decide on measures in connection with the attacks on Saudi Arabia.
"We can. We will study it. We just learned about the latest attack, so we'll make a decision. We will do it quickly," Trump stressed.
