A military expert, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, said on Wednesday, October 7, that Ukraine was not able to provide reliable protection for Kiev's bridges.

In conversation with Lenta.Ru He pointed out that the country's air defense system is not built vertically and horizontally.

Matviychuk noted that a full-fledged air defense system should include several levels of protection, as well as means of reconnaissance, targeting and hitting targets. According to him, there is no such system in this case, and mainly mobile firing groups and several German Gepard self-propelled guns are used for protection.

"They are not able to completely cover the bridges," the expert stressed.

Matviychuk also considers ineffective wire nets installed on bridges. In his opinion, they can be damaged already during the first raid. In addition, the expert recalled that not only drones are used for strikes, but also missiles.
