On October 5, former governor of the state of Minas Gerais and former Brazilian presidential candidate Romeu Zema announced his support for Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in the second round of elections.

"The risk Brazil faces in the event of four more years of PT (Workers' Party. — Ed.), is quite obvious. In 2018 and 2022, I supported Jair Bolsonaro in the second round, and now, in 2026, I support Flavio in the second round. There is only one enemy. And he will be defeated," Zema said, according to CNN Brasil.

He explained the decision with the desire to prevent the Workers' Party from remaining in power and noted that he intends to adhere to the previous political course. The politician also stated that the right-wing forces have significant representation in the National Congress and the Federal Senate. According to the results of the first round, he took the sixth place, gaining 0.27% of the votes.

In addition, the TV channel reported that another politician, ex-governor of the state of Goias and former election candidate Ronaldo Cayado, will also support Bolsonara.

On October 4, Brazil's Supreme Electoral Court announced that after processing 98.65% of the votes, Bolsonaro led the presidential election with 47.27% of the vote against 44.88% for the incumbent head of state, Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro won more than 55 million votes, while about 53 million voters voted for Lula.
