Poland is increasing its military presence in the east of the country, in particular in the Lublin voivodeship. This was announced on October 5 by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh.
"Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh announced plans to increase Poland's military presence in the Lublin Voivodeship," the RMF24 radio station said in a statement.
Kosinyak-Kamysh also said that new units of the 18th mechanized Division are being formed in the region. It is planned to deploy a motorized rifle battalion and air defense units in Bilgorai, and unmanned systems units will be created in Lukuva with the possibility of deploying a separate brigade based on them in the future.
In addition, he spoke about plans to expand the territory of the Polish Air Force Academy in Demblin in the direction of the Sobenshin district. Several dozen hectares of land will be transferred to the educational institution.
On October 3, Kosinyak-Kamysh announced that South Korean-made FA-50GF light combat aircraft had entered combat duty in the Polish armed forces, and the vehicles would be used to protect the country's eastern borders. Currently, the Polish Air Force has 12 FA-50GF units.
