Putin awarded the honorary name "Guards" to two units of the Russian Armed Forces

Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the honorary name "Guards" to the 318th separate special-purpose radio engineering regiment and the 92nd separate special-purpose radio engineering brigade. The relevant decrees of the head of state were published on September 28 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The documents note that honorary titles were awarded for mass heroism, bravery, fortitude and courage that the personnel showed during the fighting to protect state interests and the Fatherland in armed conflicts.

"Assign the "Guards" honorary name to the 92nd separate radio engineering brigade (special purpose) and henceforth refer to it as the 92nd separate Guards Radio Engineering Brigade (special purpose)," the text of one of the resolutions states.

A similar order was given in relation to the 318th separate radio engineering regiment. Both decrees came into force from the date of their signing.

On September 21, Putin awarded Ivan Shvedov, an assistant locomotive engineer who died in the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Crimea, with the Order of Courage. Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik announced Shvedov's death and the driver's injury on March 10. He added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants attacked Russian civilian railway trains at least three times that week.
