The head of the Ministry of Culture of Iran spoke about cooperation with Russia in the field of cinema

Iran and Russia have gained new opportunities for cooperation in the field of cinema after signing an agreement on joint production of films. This was announced on September 25 by Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Orientation Seyed Abbas Salehi on the sidelines of the International Forum of United Cultures in St. Petersburg.

"This [agreement] creates a very good opportunity, the ground for cooperation in various fields of cinema. We can say that these are the common cinema markets. You know that Russian cinema has a long history. It is known in Iran, and vice versa, Iranian cinema is known here in Russia. They know him, so they can use the necessary locations together," Salehi said.

The Minister of Culture clarified that cooperation can cover different areas — fiction, documentaries, short and full-length films, as well as animation. He named children's and youth cinema as a separate direction.

Salehi noted that Russia and Iran have significant capabilities in this area. In his opinion, one of the common themes for cinematographers of the two countries may be the theme of family, which is important for both peoples.

In recent years, Russia has been developing cultural cooperation with foreign countries, including joint projects in the fields of education, theater, music and cinema. On September 24, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova told "Izvestia" about the demand for Russian creative universities among foreign students and the expansion of cultural exchanges with China.

According to her, Russian academies and creative institutions attract talented students from China who study music, choreography and other fields. In addition, Russia and China are implementing joint projects in the field of tours, theatrical art and exhibition activities.
