The Ministry of Health has updated the standard of treatment for panic disorder in adults

The Russian Ministry of Health has updated the standard of medical care for adult patients with panic disorder. The document amended the list of diagnostic studies, treatment methods and medications used. On September 24, it became known from the department's order.

"To approve the standard of medical care for adults with panic disorder (diagnosis, treatment and follow—up)," TASS cites the contents of the document.

According to the new standard, when diagnosing the disease, doctors will be able to prescribe additional laboratory tests, including tests for hepatitis B and C, as well as HIV.

In addition, light therapy has been added to the list of non-medicinal treatment methods. The Ministry of Health also adjusted the list of drugs: buspirone and clomipramine were excluded from it, and venlafaxine was added as a possible remedy.

On August 18, the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced plans to update the standard of treatment for depression, in particular, by expanding the involvement of specialists before prescribing therapy to identify possible contraindications to drugs. In addition, the document provides for the expansion of the list of medicines and non-medicinal methods of prevention. The project expands the possibilities of laboratory and infection screening through additional hematological and serological studies to exclude the association of symptoms with somatic and infectious diseases.
