How-To Geek announced the possibility to configure the computer shutdown button

Accidentally pressing the shutdown button on a personal computer can lead to the irretrievable loss of valuable data. This was reported on September 22 by How-To Geek.

Journalist Tony Phillips explained that in modern Windows devices, a standard short press of the power button puts the device into sleep mode by default. This allows the user to quickly return to work after a break. However, the functions of this button can be changed in the system settings.

If you assign a command to turn off the button completely in the "Power and battery" subsection, any accidental touch will shut down the system. In this case, all data that has not been saved by the user will be lost.

"This is convenient if you take a break for a while and want to get back to work immediately," the author described the regular sleep mode.

The expert also recalled the forced shutdown function. Holding down the power button for a long time allows you to turn off the PC's power in emergency cases, for example, when the system freezes critically.
