- Gastroenterologist warned about the risks of drinking freshly squeezed juice on an empty stomach
Daily consumption of freshly squeezed juice on an empty stomach can create an undesirable load on the body in case of metabolic disorders and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Evgeny Belousov, a gastroenterologist at JSC "Medicine", told about this on September 20.
"The juice itself does not destroy the pancreas and does not cause pancreatitis in a healthy person. However, drinking it on an empty stomach daily is not the best choice, especially if you already have metabolic disorders or diseases of the gastrointestinal tract," the specialist explained "Газете.Ru ".
According to Belousov, freshly squeezed juices are practically devoid of fiber, but they contain a lot of natural sugars that are quickly absorbed and increase blood glucose levels. Grape, apple and mango juices are considered especially sweet. Citrus fruits, due to their high acidity, can cause discomfort in people with gastritis or increased acidity.
The gastroenterologist recommended drinking juice during breakfast or immediately after it. He called the optimal portion 150-200 ml. At the same time, the drink should not replace whole fruits, as they contain fiber, saturate longer and provide a smoother increase in sugar levels.
On September 19, Alexey Mamatov, a doctor of regenerative medicine, neurologist and founder of the Academy of Systemic Health, said that with the onset of cold weather, many people have an increased appetite and a desire to choose higher-calorie foods, but the reason for autumn overeating is often associated not with a lack of willpower, but with changes in sleep patterns, activity, nutrition and stress levels. It was noted that one of the main rules the doctor called the rejection of long breaks between meals.
