The Interior Ministry recorded 56 attempts to disrupt the elections with false reports of mining

The Russian Interior Ministry recorded 56 attempts to interfere with the elections by deliberately false reports of mining in 23 regions. This was announced on September 20 by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Kurnosenko.

"We record attempts to prevent the expression of the will of citizens by using the tactics of false reports about mining. A total of 56 such facts have been registered," he said in the information center of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, the broadcast of which is published on the commission's website.

Also, 27 criminal cases were opened in 16 regions of Russia during the voting days. Almost half of them are related to deliberately false reports about terrorism. Kurnosenko reported on attempts to commit terrorist attacks at polling stations using drones and rocket attacks. It was not possible to disrupt the elections.

The work of precinct election commissions was suspended only for short periods of time. At the same time, as the deputy Interior Minister noted, none of the participants in the electoral process was injured. In addition, during the election campaign, the Ministry of Internal Affairs compiled 280 protocols on administrative offenses. About a third of them were related to the illegal production, distribution or placement of propaganda materials.

Within three days, Russians will elect governors, federal and regional deputies.

On September 20, Roskomnadzor reported that it had recorded more than 1.5 thousand DDoS attacks on the CEC resources. At the same time, foreign DDoS attacks did not affect the functioning of communication networks that ensure the work of election commissions. In total, the agency recorded 918 emergencies on these networks. Roskomnadzor also reported on outside interference in the electoral process. In particular, the launch of phishing resources that disguise themselves as official websites is recorded.
