- "Auchan" has requested clarification after the transfer of business in the Russian Federation to temporary management
"Auchan Retail Russia" sent a request for clarification after the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the transfer of the Russian business of the network to temporary management. The company and all its facilities continue to operate normally, a representative of the retailer told "Izvestia" on September 18. After receiving additional information from the authorities, "Auchan" will be able to provide a more detailed comment, he assured.
"In connection with Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 661 dated September 17, 2026, "AUCHAN Retail Russia" sent a request for clarification. After receiving the relevant information, we will be able to provide a more detailed comment. To date, the company and all its facilities continue to operate normally, without any changes," the press service said.
Decree No. 661 of September 17 amended the list of assets for which temporary management is being introduced. According to the document, 99.99858% of shares in "Auchan" LLC, owned by the French Sogepar, and another 0.00142% of shares owned by B.V. Meelaker were transferred to temporary management. "L.E.V. Management" company has been appointed as the Managing Director.
""In total, the decree provides for the transfer of Russian assets of several large foreign companies, including "Auchan", "Leman Pro" and Nestle structures, to temporary management. JSC "L.E.V. Management", established in Moscow in 2024, has been appointed as the manager of shares and shares in the companies listed in the document.
According to Presidential Decree No. 302 of April 2023, the interim manager receives the authority of the owner of the property transferred under management, but cannot dispose of it. Its functions also include inventory and asset security. The interim administration is terminated by the decision of the President.
"Auchan" has been operating in Russia since 2002. At the beginning of 2026, the network comprised about 230 stores of large and small formats. In September, it became one of the ten largest Russian retailers in the second quarter, according to INFOLine.
In January of this year, the President of Russia placed under temporary management the assets of the Russian subsidiaries of the Polish-American aluminum packaging company Canpack and the Danish manufacturer of mineral insulation Rockwool.
