The used car market decreased by 8% in Russia in August

Nissan, Honda, Chevrolet, Renault and Ford rounded out the top ten.
In the top ten, almost all brands showed negative dynamics compared to the level of a month ago, ranging from 5.2% (for Ford) to 7.3% (for Lada). Only Kia recorded a slight increase (+0.6%). "" In annual comparison, eight brands were "in the red", and two were "in the black": the strongest decrease was recorded at Lada (-17.7%), and the weakest was at Toyota (-0.2%). Positive dynamics was noted only by Volkswagen (+2.8%) and Honda (+5.2%).
In total, Russians purchased 3.95 million used passenger cars in January-August, which is 2.2% more than in the same period of 2025. Over the past eight months, out of 10 leading brands, only Lada has recorded negative dynamics (-8.8%), while Volkswagen has added the most (+16.2%).
The day before, it was reported that in the summer of 2026, demand for new electric vehicles and hybrids in Russia increased by 19.7% compared to the same period last year. The average price of such a model was 7 million rubles.
