The Chechen Republic is recognized as the most non-smoking region of Russia. This is evidenced by data from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, which "RIA Novosti" got acquainted with on September 14.

According to the agency's statistics for August, the proportion of smokers in Chechnya was 0.32%. This is followed by Krasnodar Krai (4.4%), Ingushetia (5.97%) and Dagestan (8.81%).

The list of the most non—smoking regions also includes North Ossetia-Alania (10.2%), Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (10.48%) and Mordovia (10.5%).

On September 11, it became known from the data of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for August 2026 that Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan became the regions of Russia with the lowest level of alcohol consumption. The top ten regions with minimal alcohol consumption also included Kabardino-Balkaria (2.01 liters), Karachay-Cherkessia (2.72 liters), Stavropol Territory (3.43 liters), Tyva (4.15 liters), North Ossetia—Alania (4.18 liters), Moscow (4.45 liters) and Rostov Region (5.18 liters).
