- Patrushev said there was a lack of unity in the United States on the issue of settlement in Ukraine
The United States is interested in starting a peace process in Ukraine, but there is no unity within the American leadership on this issue. This was announced on September 10 by Russian Presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev.
"I think they are really interested in the peace process, but America is not united either — there is a part that is Republican, there are Democrats, and they are not so simple either," he said in an interview with journalist Alexander Yunashev, the video was posted on the Telegram channel.
At the same time, the presidential aide stressed that European countries are not interested in achieving peace.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said a day earlier that the United States could help end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible if it stopped providing direct military support to Kiev.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on September 8 that the United States, in its contacts with Russia, proceeds from a settlement in Ukraine based on the realities on earth, which provokes a positive response. He noted that the American side recognizes the basic things about the Ukrainian settlement and is trying to be helpful around them.
