Vladimir Raspikhin, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, has died.
Vladimir Vasilyevich Raspykhin, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), died at the age of 102. This was announced on September 9 by the Russian Embassy in Austria.
The veteran was one of the liberators of Budapest and Vienna. Two days ago, on September 7, he celebrated his 101st birthday. The cause of death is not called.
"Vladimir Vasilyevich's example of heroism, dedication and love for the Motherland will forever remain in our memory," the embassy writes on the Telegram channel.
Raspikhin repeatedly led the column of the "Immortal Regiment" in Austria. In recent years, he lived with his family in Paris. Even abroad, he continued to meet with his compatriots, participated in commemorative events and talked about the war.
Vladimir Raspykhin, on the eve of the celebration of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War in 2024, told Izvestia about the liberation of Budapest and Vienna. According to him, the name of his army is engraved on a marble plaque on Schwarzenbergplatz square in Vienna. He also told about the battles with the Germans in urban neighborhoods, where he and his colleagues took every house and apartment because the German soldiers were firmly sitting there and did not want to give up.
