There are 11 Russians on the list of those missing after the floods in Nepal.
The Russian Embassy in Nepal is cooperating with local authorities on inquiries about 11 Russians who were in the flood zone and have not been in touch for some time. This was announced on September 9 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"When I say 'keep tracking,' it's active tracking. Our Embassy in Nepal is cooperating with the Nepalese authorities on requests for 11 compatriots who were in the disaster area," she said at a briefing.
Zakharova explained that earlier it was about 12 Russians. However, it turned out that one of the girls had been out of touch for a long time, and then she was able to contact her family. She's fine now. It is noted that Russian diplomats continue to find out the fate of the remaining compatriots in cooperation with the Nepalese authorities.
On August 26, a flood occurred in Nepal, which almost completely destroyed the popular tourist area of Rasuwa and affected about 93 thousand people. At least 1,056 people were killed. Zakharova advised Russian citizens to refrain from traveling to flood-affected areas of Nepal. Nepalese authorities have warned of the threat of repeated flooding due to the spontaneous formation of a lake formed at the place where the river was blocked by a landslide.
