Eiffel Tower in Paris reopens after strike

The Eiffel Tower in Paris has reopened after a strike over the suspension of female staff while a delegation from the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Hindu organization is visiting. This was reported on September 8 by the Associated Press (AP).

The delegation visited the tower on September 5. BAPS requested that the delegates exclude contacts with women, and the administration granted the request. On Monday, employees went on strike, which is why the tower was closed to visitors.

BAPS later issued an official apology, noting that, according to its data, no one was denied access. Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire called the incident unacceptable and announced an investigation.

Earlier, on August 24, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, criticized the illumination of the Eiffel Tower in the colors of the flag of Ukraine. The Independence Day of Ukraine, in honor of which the tower in Paris was illuminated, has nothing to do with France and should not worry the French, he said.
