The senator opposed charging for electric vehicles at the expense of all residents of the house

The development of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is necessary, but it is impossible to install stations in apartment buildings without taking into account the technical capabilities and interests of the owners. This opinion was expressed by Senator Airat Gibatdinov, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, in an interview with Izvestia on September 8.

According to Gibatdinov, Russia needs to develop electric transport and at the same time create conditions for the emergence of a full-fledged infrastructure. At the same time, the senator noted, before installing charging stations, it is necessary to evaluate the capabilities of a particular house and its power grids.

He stressed that it is important to take into account the load on cables and transformers, as well as determine in advance the need to modernize existing infrastructure and comply with fire safety requirements.

"A family that does not have an electric car should not pay for its charging and infrastructure maintenance from their own utility bills," Gibatdinov said.

According to the senator, charging stations should be located in specially equipped parking lots, separate sites and charging pockets with the necessary capacities and separate connection lines.

Gibatdinov believes that the development of electric transport should proceed systematically — through the creation of an affordable network of charging stations and the development of domestic production of electric vehicles.

Earlier that day, Dmitry Bondar, a public figure and housing and communal services expert, noted that installing EHS in apartment buildings without taking into account the opinion of the owners could lead to conflicts between residents and create additional security risks. According to him, the costs of installing stations and upgrading networks should not be shifted to all residents of the house, and the connection of equipment should take place after a technical audit and verification of power supply capabilities.
