Nutritionist, PhD Andrey Bobrovsky told who is contraindicated to consume coconut milk. In an interview with Radio 1 on Thursday, September 3, he noted that one of the main contraindications to drinking coconut milk is an allergy to coconut, which in some cases can lead to anaphylactic shock. Individual intolerance to the product is also possible. These conditions are considered absolute contraindications.

In addition, coconut milk is undesirable for people with atherosclerosis and high cholesterol, writes RT.

Bobrovsky noted that there are different opinions regarding the use of coconut milk when overweight: some experts recommend limiting the product, others allow its inclusion in the diet when losing weight. Relative contraindications also include diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, including pancreatitis and cholelithiasis, as well as gout and migraine.

Dietitian Tatiana Ivanova told Izvestia on September 2 that coconut is considered a healthy product and an alternative to nuts, but it differs markedly from them in composition. It has more saturated fats, but less protein and other nutrients found in nuts and seeds.

In August, doctors warned that a complete rejection of cow's milk in favor of plant-based milk could negatively affect health. Plant-based alternatives are inferior in nutritional value and may carry additional risks, according to 360.ru . Before that Pravda.Ru She wrote that adults are recommended to consume no more than one glass of coconut milk per week, for children — up to 70 ml. The product should be introduced into the diet in small portions, observing the body's reaction.

In July, gastroenterologist Rustem Sadykov said that Russians were becoming more likely to suffer from lactose intolerance. The number of identified cases of secondary lactase deficiency has increased 4-fold over the past 5 years. This is due to greater intestinal sensitivity and an increase in the number of gastrointestinal diseases that directly affect the production of the enzyme lactase, Moscow 24 reports.
