On September 2, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexey Shevtsov said during the plenary session "Interregional Cooperation in Eurasia" at the Eastern Economic Forum that interregional cooperation is one of the key drivers of economic integration.

"It ensures the growth of mutual trade and investment, the creation of joint production chains, and the expansion of logistical connectivity. <...> It is no coincidence that special attention is paid to interregional cooperation when discussing the development of strategic partnership between states at the highest level"? — said Shevtsov.

According to him, Russia can offer mutually beneficial models of interregional cooperation to all countries of the region. In addition to cooperation with such close partners as China, Belarus and Kazakhstan, cooperation with Iran, Mongolia, North Korea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and other countries has significant potential.

Shevtsov added that deepening interregional cooperation could lead to the creation of joint production chains. For more active development, Shevtsov believes, it is necessary to go beyond the paradigm of "cooperation between neighbors" or cross-border interaction.

He clarified that it is necessary to establish cooperation in the field of crisis response, including preventing the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring fire, sanitary and epidemiological safety, as well as creating new transport and logistics corridors.

The head of the Ministry of Regional Development, Alexei Chekunkov, said on September 2 that Russia has a significant investment resource, but it needs to be properly organized and prioritized. According to Chekunkov, new instruments are being created to attract investment in the development of the Far East, including the Eastern Financial Center in Vladivostok, the Far Eastern concession and public-private partnership mechanisms.
