The number of victims of the attack on the wedding in Iran has reached 68 people.
In the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, as a result of a US strike, a wedding ceremony was damaged — the number of injured reached 68 people. This was announced by the Deputy Governor of the province, Ahmad Nafisi, on September 2.
"The number of people injured as a result of the US army's attack on a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak in Sirik district has increased to 68," RIA Novosti quoted the official as saying, citing the information portal of the Iranian government.
Initially, local authorities reported four dead, and some media outlets, based on data from the Iranian Red Crescent, pointed to five victims. Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Zahra Behrouzazar described the incident as a crime.
On September 1, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the United States had carried out a new series of strikes on Iranian territory. It was noted that the strikes followed alleged recent attempts by the IRGC to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the US military.
